Office Pod Acoustics Explained
Office pods are not soundproof — no freestanding pod is. A well-designed pod reduces external noise and improves speech privacy through its wall construction, seals, glazing and door. The only trustworthy measure of that performance is independent testing; Adacon publishes verified acoustic figures only once testing is complete.

What 'acoustic' means in practice
Two things matter: how much outside noise reaches the person inside, and how much of their conversation escapes. Both depend on wall construction, door and glazing seals, and how the pod is specified.
Why we don't quote dB figures yet
A decibel rating without a test certificate is a marketing number. Until independent testing of our pods is complete, we will not publish dB ratings, ISO classifications or soundproofing claims — and we suggest treating any supplier's unverified figure the same way.
Specification choices that affect acoustics
Wall construction, glazing area and type, door specification and seals all change performance. Tell us how private the pod needs to be and we'll recommend a specification.
Speech privacy vs silence
For most offices the goal is speech privacy — conversations that can't be understood outside — not laboratory silence. Positioning pods away from the noisiest zones helps as much as specification.
Common questions
- Are Adacon office pods soundproof?
- No, and no office pod is. Our pods are designed to reduce external noise and improve speech privacy; exact performance depends on specification and verified figures will be published after independent testing.
- Will colleagues outside hear my calls?
- A well-specified pod makes conversation outside hard to understand, which is what speech privacy means. We recommend a specification based on how confidential your use is.
- What acoustic standard applies to office pods?
- ISO 23351-1 is the relevant test method for speech-level reduction in furniture-scale enclosures. We do not claim compliance until our pods have been independently tested to it.
