Can you add SEND provision to an existing school site?

Yes — that is the most common request. The building is manufactured off site and installed on a prepared base, so the disruption to the rest of the school is measured in days.

How big does a SEND classroom need to be?

It depends on the group size and the rooms you need alongside it. Around four modules (roughly 52 m²) typically gives a teaching room with a breakout space and an accessible WC.

Can it include a sensory room?

Yes. A sensory space is usually a partitioned room with controllable lighting, blackout provision and power planned for the equipment you intend to install.

Is accessible washroom provision possible?

Yes, including wider door openings, level access and space for assisted changing where that is required. The exact specification is agreed against your own accessibility requirements.

Is it compliant for SEND use?

It can be configured for SEND, SEN and SEMH use. Compliance depends on the project, the site and your approvals, so we supply specification information to support your application rather than claiming blanket compliance.

Can it be ready for the start of term?

Installation usually happens in a holiday period. Lead times are confirmed at quotation — tell us your target opening date early and we will work back from it.

Can it be funded through a capital or SEND grant?

Schools and trusts regularly fund provision this way. We provide a formal written quotation, a drawn layout and dimensions, which is normally what a funding application needs.

Is it permanent or temporary?

Either. The building is robust enough for permanent use and can still be relocated later if the provision moves.

Built around the pupils who will use it

SEND, SEN and SEMH provision works differently to a mainstream classroom. Sightlines, acoustics, lighting, exits and the distance between a teaching room and a calming space all matter more than raw floor area, so we plan the layout around the group first and the module count second.

The Adacon P600 modular building measures 5.9m × 2.2m (5900mm × 2200mm) externally, with an approximate usable internal size of 5.7m × 2m and an internal floor area of approx. 11.4 m² per module, and costs £10,750 + VAT per module. Each module can include a kitchen, toilet, shower, internal partitions, windows, doors, lighting, sockets and a consumer unit, and modules can be joined side by side or stacked to two storeys.
