A practical classroom layout for school expansion

This configuration uses three linked P600 modules, each measuring 5.9m x 2.2m, arranged side by side on one storey. Together they create a wide 5.9m x 6.6m footprint with approximately 34 m² of internal floor area. The format is suited to primary and secondary schools adding teaching space without moving to a two-storey building.

The modules are steel framed and designed, manufactured and delivered by Adacon. Once installed, the three units form one fitted building rather than separate temporary rooms. The classroom includes a kitchenette and WC, supporting day-to-day use by staff and pupils without relying entirely on facilities elsewhere on the school site. Module-by-module arrangement

Module 1 forms the northern side of the building. Its exposed 5.9m north elevation has a single glazed entrance door positioned between two large windows. This gives the main elevation a clear central access point with glazing on both sides. The exposed east and west 2.2m ends each have one large window.

Module 2 sits between the two outer modules. Its long sides connect internally to Modules 1 and 3, while both exposed 2.2m ends are glazed. There is one large window on the east end and one large window on the west end, bringing daylight into the centre section of the classroom.

Module 3 forms the southern side. Its exposed south elevation has two large windows, with no external door on this side. As with the other modules, the east and west ends each contain one large window. Across the complete building, the window arrangement provides glazing on all four elevations, while access is concentrated through the single glazed door on the north side.

Exterior finish and internal fit-out

The exterior is finished in smooth dark grey cladding. A flat roof and slim fascia maintain a clean, low-profile appearance suitable for positioning alongside existing school buildings or within a school campus. The specified door and window arrangement is part of this configuration, together with the internal kitchenette and WC.

The kitchenette provides a dedicated staff or classroom support area, while the WC is contained within the building. Price and programme

The indicative price is £32,250 excluding VAT, or £38,700 including VAT, for the standard fitted specification described. Delivery, groundworks and any site-specific works are not included in this figure and are quoted separately after the proposed location and access requirements have been reviewed.

A typical lead time is 8–12 weeks. The actual programme depends on order confirmation, final specification, site readiness and delivery arrangements. Early confirmation of access and groundworks helps keep installation aligned with the intended school timetable.

Preparing the site

The building requires a suitable prepared location with adequate access for delivery and installation. The 5.9m x 6.6m footprint should be considered alongside working space needed during placement of the modules. Groundworks must be appropriate for the site and completed before installation.
