2-Module Gatehouse with WC

A practical layout for site access control

This P600 configuration uses two 5.9m x 2.2m steel-framed modules linked in a straight run. The completed building has an overall footprint of 11.8m x 2.2m and provides approximately 24 m² of internal floor area on one level. Its long, narrow format is well suited to entrance lanes, perimeter positions and other locations where available width is limited.

Designed for use as a gatehouse, the building provides a clear operational base for monitoring vehicles, visitors and pedestrian access. Typical buyers include logistics parks, schools and gated developments requiring a permanent or long-term security and site-control facility.

Module 1: entrance and observation space

Module 1 forms the western end of the building. Its north-facing 5.9m wall contains two large windows, giving security personnel a broad view along that side of the site. The exposed west-facing 2.2m end has a further large window for visibility towards approaching traffic or the site entrance.

The south-facing wall contains the building’s single glazed entrance door, positioned between two small windows. This arrangement provides a defined staff and visitor entrance while retaining additional natural light and outward visibility. The glazed door is the only external door specified for this configuration.

Module 2: additional workspace and visibility

Module 2 continues the run to the east. Two large windows are fitted to the north-facing wall, matching the main observation side of Module 1. The exposed east-facing end contains one large window, while the south-facing wall has two further large windows.

Across both modules, the window arrangement provides coverage on every exposed elevation. There are seven large windows in total, together with the two small windows beside the glazed door. The linked internal space gives the gatehouse sufficient room for security, reception and monitoring functions without dividing the operation between separate buildings.

Exterior finish and internal fit-out

The exterior is finished in smooth Light grey cladding. A flat roof with a slim fascia keeps the profile simple and appropriate for managed entrances, school grounds and commercial security points. The single-storey design also makes the building suitable for sites where an upper floor is unnecessary.

The internal fit-out includes a WC, allowing the gatehouse to operate as a self-contained workplace rather than relying entirely on nearby facilities. Adacon designs, manufactures and delivers the P600 system, with buildings delivered and installed across the UK. The modular format allows the two sections to be transported separately before being joined on the prepared site.

Price and programme

The indicative price is £21,500 excluding VAT, or £25,800 including VAT, for the standard fitted specification described here. This price covers the two-module building with its specified cladding, flat roof, glazed door, windows and internal WC. Delivery, groundworks and any site-specific works are not included and are quoted separately.

Typical lead time is 8–12 weeks. The final programme will reflect the confirmed specification, delivery arrangements and readiness of the site. The same arrangement can be reviewed in the P600 configurator.

Preparing the site

The building requires a suitable prepared base or foundations, with the exact groundworks determined by the site. Delivery vehicles and installation equipment need safe access to the final position, with sufficient room for unloading and placing both modules. Utility routes and connections for the WC must also be planned before installation. Ground conditions, access constraints and other site-specific requirements are assessed and priced separately from the standard building.
