Classroom capacity in a single-storey grid
This P600 configuration uses 12 steel-framed modules arranged in a four-by-three grid. Each module measures 5.9m by 2.2m, creating an overall footprint of 23.6m by 6.6m and approximately 146 m² of internal floor area. The modules link together to form one substantial single-storey building for the Education sector.
The format is designed for primary and secondary schools expanding their teaching capacity. It provides a practical alternative to extending an existing school building, with the main structure produced as repeatable modules before delivery and installation on the prepared site. More information about this type of accommodation is available on the modular classrooms page.
Module-by-module arrangement
The north-facing row comprises Modules 1 to 4. Module 1 has two large windows and a single glazed entrance door along its exposed 5.9m north wall, plus a full-size window in the exposed 2.2m west end. Modules 2 and 3 each have two large windows on the north wall. Module 4 also has two large north-facing windows, together with a full-size window in its exposed east end.
Modules 5 to 8 form the centre row. Module 5 has a full-size window in its west end, while Modules 6 and 7 have no exposed external walls or specified external windows. Module 8 completes this row with a full-size window in its east end.
The south-facing row comprises Modules 9 to 12. Module 9 has two large windows along its south wall and a full-size window in its west end. Modules 10 and 11 each have two large south-facing windows. Module 12 has two large windows on the south wall and a full-size window in its east end. Together, the north and south elevations provide extensive window coverage, while the glazed door in Module 1 forms the specified external entrance.
Exterior and internal fit-out
The exterior is finished in horizontal timber-effect cladding and topped by a dual-pitch apex roof. This gives the classroom a more considered appearance than a basic flat-roofed temporary unit while retaining the repeatable P600 modular structure.
Internally, the standard fitted specification includes a kitchenette and WC. Their final positioning and the detailed internal room arrangement should be confirmed during the design process, allowing the linked 12-module footprint to be planned around the school’s teaching, circulation and support-space requirements. The same configuration can be reviewed through the P600 configurator.
Indicative price and programme
The indicative price is £142,500 excluding VAT, or £171,000 including VAT, for the standard fitted specification. This price covers the configured P600 building with its stated external finish, apex roof, windows, glazed door, kitchenette and WC. Delivery, groundworks and all site-specific works are quoted separately once the site and access requirements are known.
A typical lead time is 8–12 weeks. The actual programme depends on design approval, production availability, site readiness and the scope of any project-specific work. Delivery and installation dates must also be coordinated with school operations and suitable site access.
Preparing the school site
The site requires suitable groundworks and a prepared, level base designed for the building and local ground conditions. Delivery vehicles and lifting equipment need safe access to the installation area, with sufficient working space for the modules to be positioned. Utility connections, drainage, planning requirements and any other site-specific works must be assessed and priced for the individual school site.
